We all know women's entrepreneurship is massively expanding around the globe. Yet, women are not proactively seeking out (other female) mentors.
MYTH #1: Confidence to start and grow your own business depends on your education level.
In fact, research shows that as educati
on level increases, women entrepreneurship participation rate decreases. In Europe, it still stands at only 30% while in Ghana for instance, women are in charge of more than 46% of private businesses. Rather, confidence grows with MASTERING A UNIQUE SET OF leadership and entrepreneurship skills including CREATIVITY.
MYTH #2 : Women-owned businesses should model men built businesses to succeed.
AND THEY SHOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT ! Women have other GIFTS and NEEDS often UNSEEN in the traditional business settings. For example, women who demonstrate natural qualities such as empathy excel in leadership roles.
Unleashing women's untapped potential in entrepreneurship could add another $ 12-18 trillion to the global economy by 2025 (McKinsey Institute Global).
So, where do we start to smash these myths ?
Being a successful woman entrepreneur starts with YOU. Work on yourself.
Bring self-awareness to your behaviours and the drivers behind them. When we operate “by default” (based on our past), our actions do not always best serve our objectives.
Know your emotions and connect to your senses. They hold important information for you.
Master your mind and learn to motivate yourself.
Have a compelling and vivid vision of the future so that you can move through challenges in difficult times.
Set clear, empowering objectives.
Ask for help. As entrepreneurs, we often feel alone. Especially when we have to take difficult decisions.
